Useful Information > Weather & Climate

Nice enjoys a Mediterranean climate (Köppen CSa), with usually warm and moderately dry winter. Average temperatures for mid-March are 8°C in the morning and 16°C in the afternoon. Nevertheless, morning frost can occur with a minimum temperature recorded in 1971 of -5°C. March can also be hot, with a record of 26°C in 2007.

Though it rarely rains in Côte d'Azur (about 60 days/year), the cumulative rainfall is quite high with 730mm per year. This is 100mm more than Paris and comparable with London. Heavy rainfall and storms are not unusual in March.

The Mediterranean sea is usually quite cold in March (13 to 15°C) and widely considered by locals as "non-swimmable".  Anyway, you can still enjoy a nice walk on the beach.
